House: The old convent of La Caminata is situated on a hilly and panoramic spot with a marvellous view over the medieval walls of Monteriggioni. It was built in the fifteenth century by the city of Siena (about 15 km away) as a defence post to protect them from Florence (45 km), on the famous Via Francigena which, in the Middle Ages, was the most important European trade route. Its renovation, carried out under the direction of the Fine Arts, in respect of its original features, offers an atmosphere of times gone by. The building is in the middle of the vineyards and olive-groves of the estate; guests can buy wine and olive-oil from the vineyard. The apartments are tastefully furnished with tuscan pieces. The large garden and swimming pool (6x12 m), a bowling court (bocce) and garden chess is shared with the other guests. Mountainbikes on request. It is the ideal place for relaxing but also for cultural excursions and walks in the wood of Monte Maggio. Nice panoramic view. Historical estate "La Caminata" 13 km from the centre of Siena, 1 km from the centre of Monteriggioni, in a secluded position on top of a hill, in the green.
